He follows that gaze and tries not to look TOO delighted by pigeon antics. Unsuccessfully.

The urge to be around to fuss over you while you're in such a state is regrettably strong. Even though I'm aware that it's not what you want.

I'm sure your reaction would not be far off from that pigeon's disinterest in their paramour's dances.

"What, sitting there and going -" and here he near-perfectly imitates a pigeon coo - "- in disapproval?"

"Just leave me alone, just go away, why are you here?"

He wiggles his fingers vaguely at Satin.

"I get fussed over enough all day every day already. I don't need anyone doing it while I can't even muster up the energy to tell them to leave."

Do you get fussed over?

"In the way you'd fuss over having the proper flower arrangements at a very important social event, yes. All the time."

For clarity... when I said "fussed over", I meant more in the "do you have enough pillows", or the "I've put fresh water by your bed", or the "can you stomach a bit of mango pudding" kind of way.

Totality laughs, quietly so as not to scare the birds away.

"Well, by THAT definition, no."

[His imitation of pigeon disapproval is not nearly as accurate. But it has heart.]

"If it helps, I don't think there's anything anyone could do for me in that state. So I wouldn't be able to appreciate any fussing."
