Inside is... Totality! But not the absolutely wasted mess version of his early 20s. This is a pre-debut excited fifteen year old Totality, bouncing around coming up with songs and testing how they sound. He's got enough energy that you can sort of tell that the excitement you're feeling comes directly from him.

He hasn't IMMEDIATELY noticed you, but he's definitely going to notice next time he goes from writing desk to piano again.

[weird. Well, just gonna let him notice without announcing himself]

Well, when he DOES notice he perks up and immediately scurries over.

"Hey, this is weird to ask because I don't know you, but do you have a second to listen to something? I can't tell if it sounds good anymore because I've been revising it so many times."

Haha, I could hear ya playin’ from outside so I was already curious. Dunno how much help I‘ll be though!

"All you have to do is tell me how you feel about it."

He hops up onto the piano and starts playing a song. This isn't part of Totality's official released works, so either it's original for the heart or an old song he just never released - anyway, it's his usual style, but it sounds a little unrefined. Still, the talent is absolutely there, and it's incredibly impressive, especially with his vocals (though he's, fifteen, so the voice is not quiiiite the voice that later became incredibly famous).

The important thing is that he's clearly enjoying himself playing it and having a lot of fun.

[having that much passion for a thing is pretty removed from his own experiences, he thinks…]

Hmm… it’s pure?

"Pure... like, in a good way?"

I dunno! Just like, even the bits that kinda still seem rough has feeling in it and makes ya wanna hear it again.

He BEAMS.

"So it works! I had done so many revisions I wasn't sure if I was just like, sunk cost into it, you know?"

It’s doin' that heart-squeeze thing.

Is this for a performance or..?

"Yay! Okay, sit down somewhere comfy."

He is just going to start running through them. Some of them are like, rough beta drafts of what would later become hit Solar Circle singles, but a LOT are totally original. They all have the same passion and enthusiasm behind them.

[fully just hanging out listening to all the songs he feels like playing. Doesn’t really comment if anything is good or bad if asked, or give opinions about if anything needs changing even if he knows it does get changed. Will say if something feels complete to him though, or if there’s a particular sensation he gets, like if it seems fun to sing along or dance to, or if it does a heart-squeezy thing or a hold-your-breath thing]

He has almost inexhaustible enthusiasm for this, but after he's shared a few he DOES become aware of the idea that probably Loren did not wander in solely to hear him play music.

"By the way, what's your name? I should have asked first I guess, sorry, haha."

I mean I walked in without knockin'. The nom de plume is Loren, nice ta meetcha.

"I'm Totality! But you can call me Tali if that's too long. It's nice to meet you! Have you ever tried playing an instrument?"

Naw not really. I got dragged along ta vocal training lessons with friends of mine for a while but it wasn’t for music exactly.

"Have you thought about starting? It's fun!"

Dunno, level-grindin' from basically zero is a little too tough for me.

He laughs a bit.

"Where else would you start from?"

Some place I already have a bit of skill I guess.

"I mean, I started at zero. That's the only place you can start."
